[Q1] Music for Metal Percussion

[Q1] Music for Metal Percussion - Exactly my conception of an
album title - Our, music for metal Percussion, blending our respective specialisms as percussionists. The title references my Genre of numbered albums ‘Metal Percussion music ‘ - MPm.

This is music I has wanted to make for a long time, and Walt was the man to make it with, We first met when I was a very young man, barely 20, and new to both Art and music, with the impatience and arrogance of the young. I had a great admiration for his geometric Art and his international work in Percussion. Years later though, our paths had crossed, as I went to his studio to record with him. And this is the result, one of the best percussion Albums I've ever made, a complete pleasure to perform. A double Album of Acoustic Metal Percussion and resonance - setting a mark in both our careers.

I arrived at his house in west Derbyshire, his studio an amazement to the eye of stainless steel frames each hanging a metal plate or a circular saw blade or wheel centre - a dream - an embarrassment of riches - like the rig for a Xenakis piece.

I have specialised in restricting my pallet to find inventions for many and varied percussion instruments as individual works. It was difficult for me to use such a forest of instruments. None the less we did and found a clarity of sound and understanding - hence my calling us The Lords of the Dance.

Both our albums were recorded over several sessions in May 2013 and bounded by DCM projects for Alisian and Wenninger Broadhurst.
